Start: 5:00pm

Finish: 10:00pm

DEMONSTRATION AT THE 2025 QUEENSLAND SIMMENTAL BULL SALE

To celebrate the 5th year of the Queensland Simmental Bull Sale, sale vendors invite previous buyers and underbidders to celebrate this milestone by joining them at the Great Western Hotel, Rockhampton at 5pm on Sunday 27 July (following the bull walk) for drinks, dinner and an evening of entertainment.

Starting off at 5:30pm Frank Finger of Hillview Training “Turning pups into mustering dogs” (as seen on series one of ABC Muster Dogs) will provide a demonstration of these incredible dogs in action working cattle right at the Great Western bull riding ring in Rockhampton.

Unknown to many, Frank and his family have been breeding Brahman cross cattle at “Hillview”, Clermont where they cross a high-grade Brahman herd with Simmental to meet JBS and Teys specifications for the JapOx market. Frank and his family have also had great success at the Clermont Show and Clermont Beef Expo where they have achieved grand champion pen seven times in the last eleven years. Recent results included a pen of Simmental cross bullocks that sold for 400c/kg weighing 767kg for a return of $3070 per head.

Frank and his family continue to be wonderful supporters of the Brahman, Simmental and Droughtmaster breeds.

Frank was an early adopter of the working dog concept after attending a training course in 1996. Over the next twenty-five years he went on to host another 43 working dog and stock handling schools with various trainers. Frank and his Kelpie Annie have appeared at events as far away as Tasmania with people frequently amazed at how Hillview trains their dogs through the use of friendship and not fear.

Hillview Training now delivers regular working dog and stock handling schools for cattle producers and dog owners on property at Hillview (Clermont). To find out more about Hillview Training, Frank will be around on the day of the Queensland Simmental Bull Sale to answer any questions on dog handling and upcoming workshops.

SUNDAY 27 JULY

1PM – 4PM: CQLX GRACEMERE

As in previous years all sale lots will be available for viewing in large pens at the Gracemere Livestock Exchange on Sunday starting at 1pm. This is a great opportunity to view all bulls and consider characteristics including temperament, feet and step which are difficult to assess on sale day. It is also an opportunity to talk to vendors about their breeding operations and genetic programs.

5PM: THE GREAT WESTERN HOTEL, ROCKHAMPTON

Following the Bull Walk on Sunday at CQLX, the sale is excited to welcome all vendors, buyers and agents to the Great Western Hotel (GWH) for a fun filled social event. The Queensland Simmental Bull Sale will provide some great food and beverages within a dedicated area at the Great Western Hotel whilst in the arena there will be a working dog demonstration followed by the best local talent competing in a bull ride.

5:30PM

The evening starts with Frank Finger and Annie of Hillview Training (as seen on ABC Series One of Muster Dogs) performing a working dog demonstration at the indoor bull riding ring at the Great Western whilst you settle in.

6PM

The Great Western Hotel is renowned within the sport of bull riding for producing some of Australia’s best talent – no more than Brady Fielder who finished 3rd in the 2025 PBR world title- that’s quite a result. While you are enjoying talking to your mates and the QSBS hospitality, cowboys will compete in a Jackpot bull riding event.

Local talent will compete in the Mini Bulls, Junior Bulls and Open Bull Ride- all looking to hold on for the 8 seconds, to get a score and take home some prize money.
